DIY Homemade Essential Oil Body Wash Recipe

Check out our homemade essential oil body wash recipe.

Many of us are fastidious when it comes to reading food labels at the grocery store, scanning the packaging for overly processed ingredients, chemicals, and food coloring. But when it comes to our beauty and body care products, we let our guards down.

Unless you are already using natural products in the bathroom, the body wash and soaps found in your shower likely contain a host of ingredients you cannot pronounce or source. This week, the Natural Healthy Concepts team has an easy homemade essential oil body wash recipe for you to try.

Keep reading for an easy recipe to make natural body wash that smells amazing, works fantastic, and doesn’t contain a bunch of nonsense.

Why Use Natural Bath Products

Many of us pay more attention to what we put into our bodies than what we put on our skin. However the things we put on our skin don’t just stay on the surface, they are absorbed and can get into our bloodstream.

Some may even act as hormone disruptors and have the potential to cause cellular damage. This is why we need to pay attention to what’s in our shower products and avoid ingredients like sulfates, surfactants, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and others.

Homemade Essential Oil Body Wash Recipe

Making your own body wash isn’t nearly as difficult as it sounds, this recipe makes natural soap that smells amazing and lathers up well. To start, you’ll need castile soap, honey, a carrier oil (like fractionated coconut, olive, or avocado oils), essential oils of your choosing (such as lavender, tea tree, or sandalwood), glycerin, and a 12 oz foaming soap dispenser to hold it.

Start by pouring all of your ingredients into a small bowl. Using a spoon or wire whisk, stir them together slowly to avoid excess bubbles. Once your mixture is well incorporated, transfer it to your foaming soap dispenser and top off with water. A small funnel may be helpful when pouring it in.
